Truffle hunting pre-dinner

‎Some may have received a post already.. apologies.. here is the real deal..

We have arrived ready for tomorrow’s truffle hunt.. he better get it! Mr Wentworth was great on the journey.. and we passed stonehenge.. are we druided up? ‎

Dunno yet am sure that there are. ‘magic’ mushrooms sprouting in the back lawns of the very beautiful and accommodating Ash Hotel of somerset where we are staying.. x

Run by Gordon.. ex industry and his lovely dog Ramsey (a setter), cool place..

Got sent out the tempura egg.. great bacon.. good mushrooms.. hard egg.. have had to send it back.. hate doing that.. and before you start Mrs Fitz.. it needed sendin!! x

And OOOPS! The next one no good either.. Sheesh!! Am now eating breakfast at tea time..!!

Gordon not happy either..

Mr Wentworth though had his gooses and duck feast with fruits and venison… x Lillys.. wish I ate that stuff x. Woulda been easier huh? X

‎Let’s try again.. scrapping the starters huh? X

For starters.. a mushroom and truffle veloute.. amuse bouche as they say! X wonderful!

The steak? .. great meat.. triple cooked chips? Doubt it brother x‎ well not like me pal Jack’s.. they were good mind you yet just not that treat you wanted from triple cooked.. why not just say hand cut chips? X having the rest of the steak in a sandwich to go.. for lunch at the truffle course..

Deserts? A tasting plate.. mad chocolate thing.. if you dig chocolate you would dig this.. rhubarb. A little hard.. yet good an sharp not overly smacked up with sugar.. and a posset.. lovely and lemony.. x

A pot of green tea and a nitecap of cider brandy..

Ready for the hunt tomorrow! X
