Spent the day at the Monte Carlo beach club today.. It’s on Saadiyat island.. It’s a nice spot and ‘sister’ property to the one Monaco.. This one though is far more contemporary …

To be fair there is nothing else really around it right now. ..

Although the louvre and Guggenheim are due to arrive.. Yet that has been almost eight years in the making I think!

The club is kinda empty, so that quite nice .. Although lacking in any ambience at all!! Some kinda background noise would of been fantastic..

The sea was choppy.. Well choppy in this case isn’t really surfs up territory!

They say they have turtles and dolphins cons up yet the turtles have stopped coming in numbers.. I think people tried ‘playing’ with them?

So stuck to the pool..

Lunch?

Wagyu burgers.. On a brioche.. Hate to say it yet they tasted dry and kinda like they were frozen patties, which I think they were. BOO!

Skin on Fries.. That had to be sent back as they were cold! ( the next ‘fresh’ lot arrived when we had finished the main! ).. Overall?

Not great..

Sorry.. Ashley ..( don’t call me Ashley hahaha) Actually I am not sorry , it was just not good enough. Sorry.. Oops! What a British thing to do huh?!

Yet there was a star at lunch.. The confit duck on toasted sourdough with cornichons, capers, great rocket and a sweet pickles thingy.

I think it was delicious indeed although the duck was cold.. Humph! That I will be making when I get home. For sure..

I suppose the Monte Carlo beach club is like an old fashioned country club, or are they still active? Perhaps in mid USA? Help me out here people!

Should you go?

If you want to get away from the hotel pools.. Sure buy a day pass.. Maybe smuggle in your own snacks though? Although that may get you kicked out kinda swiftly!

Oh yeah .. Monte Carlo beach club?

I also met up with my pal Monty Panesar.. A couple nites ago in the club at the Viceroy Yas Island..

Yet that’s another story right..
