Lunch in Market Harborough

This a great Sunday post from Jack.. And also trying this posting from the iPhone that will be the new tool..

Woke this morning to a beautiful day so decided to go for a drive and chose Market Harborough since it was only an hours’ drive away and we had never been before.

Arrived around 12.30, free parked in the High Street and had a very pleasant walk around the town/village.

Came across a lovely restaurant & bar called Wildwood. Absolutely spotless and a genuine welcome from a really pleasant waitress with a smile who found us a table.

The atmosphere was just right for us. Sophisticated family atmosphere.

The menu was comprehensive with starters, grills, pastas, pizzas, salads and sides. Each section with good choices.

I chose the pepperoni pizza with red chillies and thyme and Christine chose the Goat’s cheese salad. Both courses were superb. Of course I had to get a doggy bag for mine.

I overhead Rob, the manager say to one of the waitresses ‘Good work Gem Gem’. Next time he passed I had to complement him on the way he worked with his staff and we had a nice chat. He may actually be moving to MK soon.

The atmosphere was so pleasant we just had to order a dessert. My choice was Eton Mess (huge) and Christine had Sticky Toffee Pudding with custard. I finished mine but Christine had to give up. Both superb and the perfect end to such a pleasant experience. .

The service was excellent, way beyond what I have experienced recently.

I will certainly return and recommend it to anyone who is likely to be in the region.

Well done to you, Rob, and your staff.

  2. Cathy. I am sure your folks will have as great an experience as Christine and I. Ask them to say hello to Rob, the manager, from me. Let me know of their experience. Jack..

  3. What a coincidence – my parents live very near Mkt Harboro and often eat out there – at The Swan pub mostly. I know the town well too, but this place is new to me so I’ll tell them to try it. My Dad will love those desserts!

  4. Noticed a totally different layout. I take it this is a conscious change and nothing to do with the new IPhone. I think I prefer the new format since you don’t have to click on each picture then find the next button to move to the next picture only to enlarge it. I searched for an earlier post, opened it but the format of the earlier post was the still the old format. Ho Hum.  Any comment?
