Here it is from Jack.. x
What a great idea. It was really good to go back over these old posts.
Last night I was looking for something simple and different to make for a light dinner for New Years eve or Hogmanay as we call it in Scotland.
As some of you may know Christine and I were married in France 28 years ago so maybe something French like frogs legs?
A great idea so searched in the freezer but without success.
However I came across something just as grotesque some people might say and not even from France but still similar in some ways to frogs legs, you’ve guessed it – chicken’s feet in chilli and black bean sauce, frozen from Oriental supermarket. Ideal but very different from what I started out to cook but hey ho. Here goes.
First read the instructions (RTFM?) Separate the frozen feet as best you can and place on a small heatproof plate in a Chinese steamer over a pot of boiling water and steam for 20 mins. et voila it is ready.
Serve straight from the steamer. Use your fingers if you can bear the temperature or knife and fork if you can’t.
They were delicious as usual and will continue to cook them as a light meal or snack. However I still prefer frog’s legs so back up to the Oriental supermarket tomorrow.
You should really try both as I’m sure you will be pleasantly surprised. (I am not convinced! Mr Fitz! X)
Eat well and enjoy good food throughout 2014.
